Kyrgyz PM meets with Acting Secretary-General of UNCTAD Isabelle Durand

Bishkek, March 24, 2021. / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov met with Acting Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Isabelle Durand via videoconference, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government said on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the digitalization of the customs system and Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) was presented, which can significantly reduce the time of customs clearance, exclude corruption and contribute to the replenishment of the country's budget.
The Kyrgyz prime minister stressed the digitalization of public services, including customs procedures, is a special priority for the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
"I would like to mention the special role of UNCTAD as a focal point for the development of trade, finance, technology, investment and sustainable development of countries. The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic looks forward to the practical implementation of joint projects with your organization in various areas. The introduction of ASYCUDA system in a number of countries allows us to hope that the possible use of this system in our republic will primarily improve the administration of customs procedures and have a positive impact on budget revenues. We are interested in the use of ASYCUDA system and look forward to further cooperation with UNCTAD,” Maripov said.
In turn, Acting Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development Isabelle Durand expressed readiness to promote and develop further cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest.
