Kyrgyz, Afghan sides discuss possibility of teaching children of Afghani Kyrgyz in educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, March 19, 2021 / Kabar /. The meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev and the Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar was held via videoconference. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the meeting, the sides congratulated each other on the upcoming Nooruz holiday. Discussing the current situation in Afghanistan, Kazakbaev expressed support for the democratic reforms achieved by the Afghan government and the success in protecting freedom of speech, the rights of women and national minorities, as well as the ongoing efforts aimed at the earliest possible achievement of peace in his country, the report said. In addition, the sides noted the need to increase the level of Kyrgyz-Afghan cooperation in trade, economic, energy and transport spheres. In addition, while discussing the situation of the Afghani Kyrgyz, the sides agreed to make joint efforts to implement infrastructure and social projects, to build schools, roads and hospitals in places of compact residence of ethnic Kyrgyz in the Big and Small Pamirs of Afghanistan, as well as to educate children of Kyrgyz living in Afghanistan in educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. In conclusion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed gratitude to his Afghan counterpart for the invitation to take part in the ministerial conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan "Heart of Asia", which will be held on March 30, 2021 in Dushanbe.
