Kyrgyz president to attend launch of gold mine in north of country

Bishkek, March 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . A ceremonial launch of Talas Gold Mining Plant will be held on March 17 in Talas Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. The plant will extract gold from ore at Djerui deposit. The event will be attended by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will join via videoconference. The capacity of gold extraction plant is 1.3 mln tons of ore per year. All extracted ore will be processed there, with the subsequent refining in Kyrgyzstan. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic will have the preemptive right to purchase gold bars. Djerui deposit is the second most important gold deposit in Kyrgyzstan with proven reserves of more than 100 tons of gold.
