Tashkent hosts meeting of Kyrgyz president, Uzbek PM

Bishkek, March 12, 2021 . / Kabar /. The Uzbek capital city of Tashkent hosted on Friday a meeting between President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The Kyrgyz president’s press service said that an exchange of views on priority areas of Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral cooperation, including in trade and economic, water and energy, transport, cultural and recreational and other spheres took place.
President Zhaparov noted the importance of strengthening of active work on agreements reached by the Governments of the two countries, and proposed to use all the venues for negotiations on a regular basis.
He added the countries have recently taken a number of efforts to further expand bilateral trade, including the launch of the Roadmap for further expanding and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The Kyrgyz leader spoke positively about the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Council, which will become a new platform for deepening economic partnership and will create opportunities for establishing direct links between Kyrgyz and Uzbek entrepreneurs in the development of cross-border trade.
The first meeting of the Council was held within the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Forum held in Tashkent.
Commenting positively on the active development of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, Zhaparov proposed to establish in Kyrgyzstan a joint venture to produce medicines, medical equipment and personal protective equipment.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov emphasized good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, based on strategic cooperation.
He noted the importance and fruitfulness of Sadyr Zhaparov’s meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which gave a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations and strengthened relations between the countries.
Aripov expressed full readiness to implement in close cooperation with the Government of Kyrgyzstan all the agreements reached at the historic meeting of the heads of states, noting that the Uzbek side could visit the republic at any time to hold meetings of intergovernmental commissions.
