Performance of EU country strategy in Yemen reviewed

SANA'A, May 04 (Saba) - Yemen and European Commission held here on
Monday an enlarged meeting to review the performance of the European
Commission (EC) country strategy in Yemen.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi,
who chaired the meeting, expressed the Government's appreciation to
the European Commission keenness on supporting the development of
Yemen.

Al-Arhabi pointed out the importance of discussing the future
priorities and trends under the preparation for the new country
program for (2011 - 2013).

He also reviewed the overall challenges for the coming years, which
were identified in the mid-term review of the five-year plan, topped
by reducing the dependence on oil, control the population growth
rates and activate the governmental performance.

Al-Arhabi emphasized the importance of motivating the cooperation
between Yemen and donors, including EC, to support Yemen's efforts
in dealing with these challenges.
