President heads 3rd meeting of GPC permanent committee

SANA'A, May 04 (Saba)- Headed by President Ali Abdullah Saleh,
Chairman of the General People Congress Party (GPC) , the permanent
committee of the party held its third ordinary meeting on Monday
under slogan" Together for National Gathering to Protect the
National Unity and Achievements of Yemen's Revolutions, and Reject
the Culture of Abhorrence."

In the opening session of the meeting, president Saleh delivered a
speech in which he asked the party to do its responsibilities as it
is the top political party in the nation and based on majority in
the parliament and local councils as well as large popular support.

He pointed out to the coming constitutional amendments to extend
power of the local ruling, considering the local lulling as ideal
solution as the citizen shoulders responsibility within the popular
participation in order to achieve goals of the Yemeni revolution.

President Saleh confirmed in his speech the strength of the national
unity, indicating to the scarify of the Yemeni people for their
unification and future.

He said that popular committees were formed to face elements of
vandalism, saying that everything is under control and now worry
about the unification.

About situation in Saada, president Saleh said that:" We announced a
decision of stopping military operation after five confrontations
with elements of strife and vandalism."He addressed these elements
by asking them to come down from mountains and evacuate some schools
and districts as well as hand over equipment of carrying out
development projects in the region which have been seized by these
elements.

Saleh also pointed out to the role of al-Qaeda network in disturbing
the security and development in the country, describing elements of
the network as spies and traitors.

For his part, the vice president and first deputy chairman of the
party Abduh Raboh Mansor Hadi received the ongoing developments in
the Yemen, Arabic and international areas and position of the party
over these developments in addition to activities of the party
during the previous period.

In the meeting, the members of the committee discussed a report
which be presented to he coming 7th conference of the party. They
also discussed agenda and documents that will be discussed in the
conference.
