Share of settlings in national currencies in trade between EAEU countries up from 63% to 74%

The share of settlings in national currencies in trade between countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has increased from 63% to 74%, Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis and Statistics Department of the Project Unit of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) Natalia Lavrova said during an online presentation. She reported that the level of dollarization decreased from 25% to 19%. "These are significant successes. Continuation in trends can be expected,” she said. Lavrova said Russia occupies leading position - 70%, the share of other countries of the Union - 2%. "The high presence of the ruble is due to the importance of the Russian economy, which forms the backbone of the EAEU countries. For example, the share of the ruble in trade with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is 69%, in trade with Belarus - 80%,” she added.
