A BOOK ABOUT AZERBAIJANI PARTICIPANTS OF THE EUROPEAN RESISTANCE MOVEMENT PUBLISHED IN ITALY
Baku, 4 May (AzerTAc). The publishing house "Toskana-nuova-2" in Florence, Italy, has published a book of the known Baku journalist, writer, political scientist Rugiyya Aliyeva “The Azerbaijani guerrillas in Italy”.
In the WW II, in territory of the occupied Europe a great number of Azerbaijanis participated in the resistance movement. Taken prisoner by Germans due to severe wounds or other developed circumstances, the Azerbaijani soldiers have appeared in concentration camps. By miracle having survived, they escaped from prisoner-of-war camp, joined the antifascist movement, and local guerrilla groups. Azerbaijanis battled shoulder to shoulder with the French, Yugoslavian, Italian, Polish patriots, taking the most active part in liberation of cities and villages, prisoners of concentration camps.
The author of translation into Italian and preface of the book “The Azerbaijan guerrillas in Italy” is the professor of the Florentine University, the former Mayor Agliana Renato Rizaliti.
