39 thousand tons of local goods exported via Aden Port

ADEN, May 03 (Saba) - Volume of the Yemeni exports via Aden Port has
increased in the first quarter of the current year to 39,340 tons
with an estimated cost at YR 3,479,000 at an increase of 12,254 tons
compared with the same period of last year.

Speaking to Saba, General Director of Aden Port Customs Mohammed
Bahkim said exports of frozen and frech fish, sweets, soaps, milk,
ghee, honey, cotton and detergents increased to YR 484,687,000
compared with 2008.

He indicated 86 trade ships anchored in the port in the first
quarter of 2009 unloaded 832,656 tons of wheat, rice, sugar, cement,
iron, wood and special technical equipment related to investment
projects implemented in this year in Aden province at an increase of
145,666 tons in the same period.

Goods containers for local consumption reached 12,254 at an increase
of 5,622 containers compared with in the same period last year.
