Solving int'l issues impossible without Iran: Russian official

Director of Russia's Department for Disarmament and Conflict Resolution Studies of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations said Sunday the international issues will not be solved without involving Iran.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Alexander Pikayev said that Iran acts as a trouble-shooter in resolving international issues, including those relating to Afghanistan and world leaders have agreed on this.

Pikayev said that Iran's participation in international conferences on Afghanistan in Moscow and Geneva denotes Tehran's positive role in resolving the Afghan issue.

Commenting on US accusation that Iran supports terrorism, he described this as Washington's weak policy to isolate Iran.

Pikayev also noted US that needs Iran's involvement in the region to solve the crises in Iraq and Afghanistan and ensure regional stability.

The Russian official said that the US should respect the Iranian nation as this is the only way for holding direct talks with Iran.
