Iran, Kenya sign energy deal
Iran's Electricity Industry Syndicate and Kenyan Energy Ministry recently signed a letter of understanding to expand cooperation in the sector.
According to a report by the Public Relations Department of the syndicate, based on the deal, the two sides were committed to help boost economic and commercial ties in the energy sector.
Based on the deal, Iran will share modern technologies with Kenya.
Commenting on the accord, secretary of the syndicate, Hamid Reza Salehi said at the signing ceremony that the syndicate represents Iran's private sector involved in the field.
Stating that Kenya is a gateway to African markets, he described cooperation with that country as an opportunity to promote interactions and commercial ties.
Kenyan Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi, for his part, said that his country seeks to boost cooperation with Iran, which according to him, is essential for the two countries' energy industry.
"Kenya is a gateway to East Africa," he noted.
