The conference was opened by President of the Azerbaijan Association of Philosophic and Socio-Political Sciences, Chief of the Presidential Administration, philosopher, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev.
“President Ilham Aliyev declared intellectual development one of the national priorities,” said Ramiz Mehdiyev.
He said Azerbaijan “is successfully moving forward on the path towards European integration”, adding “this is very important for the country from political, economic, scientific and technological points of view”.
“This also opens up new opportunities to develop relations among Turkic speaking states as well as CIS countries.”
The academician also touched upon current fall in the world`s oil prices, saying “the decline may have a certain impact on Azerbaijan`s economy”.
“However, the fact Azerbaijan`s economy is not oil-dependent and the non-oil sector is rapidly developing proves that the country has been pursuing a far-sighted policy.”
