Event dedicated to birthday of Kyrgyz writer Aitmatov held in Turkey’s Ankara

Bishkek, Dec. 15, 2020. /Kabar/. Turkey’s Ankara city hosted an event to commemorate outstanding writer, thinker and diplomat Chyngyz Aitmatov on the occasion of his birthday on Dec. 12. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, the event took place in a park named after Aitmatov, where a monument to the writer is located. Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalchin Topchu, an ambassadors accredited in the Turkish capital, heads of municipalities of Ankara, representatives of international and public organizations, business structures, students, media, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora living in Turkey attended the event to honor the memory of the great son of the Kyrgyz people. The event was addressed by Mayor of Kecioren Municipality Turgut Altynok, Chief Advisor to the Turkish President Yalchin Topchu and Kyrgyz Ambassador to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliyev. In his speech Ambassador Omuraliyev noted the monument to Chyngyz Aitmatov was unveiled a year ago, which is another striking confirmation of the deep respect of the Turkish people for the writer, once again expressed gratitude to Mayor Altynok and the entire staff of the municipality. Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalchin Topchu emphasized the problems raised in the writer's works, noting that Aitmatov's ideas are a great legacy for future generations. As part of the event, the attendees laid flowers at the writer's monument.
