Issues of organization of int’l observers work at Kyrgyzstan’s presidential elections discussed

Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry hosted on Tuesday a meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Azizbek Madmarov and Head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR/OSCE) limited election observation mission Tamas Meszerics. According to the Foreign Ministry's press service, the OSCE/ODIHR mission arrived at the invitation of Kyrgyzstan to observe the presidential elections in the republic and plans to send 22 long-term observers. Discussions were held on the organization of the work of international observers. In particular, Azizbek Madmarov noted international observers were invited by the Kyrgyz side to ensure openness and transparency of the election process, and also expressed gratitude to the OSCE for sending international observers for the presidential elections in the republic. Tamas Meszerics thanked for close cooperation with the Mission and for the rapid accreditation of ODIHR/OSCE observers. He also noted ODIHR will continue to support democratic processes in the country by ensuring transparent and fair elections, according to OSCE methodology and international standards.
