MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS SAUDI ARABIA`S AMBASSADOR
Baku, April 29 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) Ogtay Asadov met with ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the country Fahd bin Ali al Dusari.
Asadov said Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence.
According to him, Azerbaijan attaches great importance to expanding comprehensive relations with Saudi Arabia.
The Speaker noted that President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2005 gave an impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.
He pointed out that reciprocal visits by top officials contribute to boosting bilateral ties.
Asadov said the two countries` legislative bodies play important role in deepening bilateral ties, as well. He added Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia inter-parliamentary friendship group functions in Milli Majlis.
Asadov also highly valued the fact that Saudi Arabia backs Azerbaijan`s stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within international organizations, and does not maintain diplomatic relations with Armenia.
Fahd bin Ali al Dusari said relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia were developing successfully.
The two countries, at his words, have wide opportunities to expand cooperation even more in economic, scientific, education and humanitarian spheres.
The ambassador underlined that he would spare no efforts to contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation even more.
