Kyrgyzstan’s agriculture potential presented at UN FAO regional conference

Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Industry Tilek Toktogaziyev took part in the 32nd Session of the UN FAO Regional Conference held on Nov. 2 in the format of videoconferencing.
According to the Agriculture Ministry’s press service, in his speech Toktogaziyev touched upon such issues as the formation of effective food systems, the stimulation of investment in the creation and development of value chains, the current situation in agriculture, as well as the need to transform the strategy of agriculture and food systems and the prospects for close cooperation of the Kyrgyz Republic with international organizations, partners in the region, as well as with neighboring countries.
A total of 290 delegates from 54 UN FAO member states, 9 observers and representatives from the private and civil sectors attended the above event.
The 32nd session of the FAO Regional Conference aims to discuss the implications of COVID-19 and its impact on public health.
One of the main topics for discussion and consideration were "Sustainable Food Systems and Healthy Diets in Europe and Central Asia" and "Solutions for Youth, Employment and Developing Rural Areas in relation to the United Nations Decade of Family Farming”.
