Pakistan blacklists Kyrgyz universities of medical training

Bishkek, Oct. 29, 2020 / Kabar /. Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic of held a meeting with rectors of universities Kyrgyzstan that train specialists in medical fields, the press service of the Ministry of Education said. The participants of the meeting discussed the situation resulting from the inclusion by the Pakistani Medical Commission of Kyrgyzstan's universities in the black list. The leadership of the ministry announced that, according to the information of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Pakistan, all universities of the Kyrgyz Republic that train specialists in medical direction were blacklisted by the Pakistani side and are not recommended for admission to Pakistani citizens. This is due to the fact that 90% of Pakistani graduates of universities in the Kyrgyz Republic cannot pass the mandatory medical examination at the Pakistan Medical Council, and their diplomas are not recognized in the IRP. The ministry’s leadership said that the current situation is associated with the low quality of training for both Kyrgyz and foreign citizens. It was also noted that the vast majority of universities have not passed international accreditation, while interest in high-quality training of foreign students in medical fields should be a priority of the universities themselves. From now on, the Ministry will strengthen licensing control over the activities of universities, especially in medical areas, due to the fact that the current situation negatively affects the investment climate of the Kyrgyz Republic and, in particular, the export of education. In addition, the leadership of the ministry urged Kyrgyz universities to tighten the entrance requirements for Pakistani students in order to improve overall performance indicators.
