Kyrgyz FM meets with chairman of Committee on Int’l Affairs of Russia’s Federation Council

Bishkek, Oct. 23, 2020. /Kabar/. As part of his visit to Russia, Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev met with Konstantin Kosachev, the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the agenda of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian and migration spheres, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported. Kazakbayev informed the interlocutor about the events in Kyrgyzstan, and noted that currently the situation in the country is stable, political processes have returned to the legal field. He stressed the commitment of the Kyrgyz side to comply with all previously assumed obligations, and emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches priority to further strengthening and building strategic partnership and allied relations with the Russian Federation. The Kyrgyz foreign minister touched upon the issues of providing economic assistance for reforms, continuing active cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus infection, the full resumption of air travel between the two countries, as well as free movement of services, capital, goods and labour force. In turn, the Russian side noted the importance of providing assistance in solving the above issues in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. Kazakbayev and Kosachev noted with satisfaction the high level of Kyrgyz-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation, and agreed on the need to take measures to strengthen the use of parliamentary diplomacy tools to give additional impetus to the development of cooperation between the two countries.
