Georgia establishes new platform for efficient business with support of EU

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.9 By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend: The authorities of the Georgian Bolnisi Municipality have helped local entrepreneurs improve their livelihoods by providing them with practical tools and know-how on operating their businesses more efficiently, Trend reports via the European Union (EU). This assistance was part of the EU-funded initiative ‘Mayors for Economic Growth’ (M4EG). "Bolnisi is a multi-ethnic rural region with a population of around 53,500, of which 63 percent work in agriculture. However, despite the existing opportunities in the agricultural sector, local producers rarely managed to optimize production and maximize their profits," the report said. With help from the M4EG, Bolnisi Municipality also created a two-year local economic development plan, identifying the main economic priorities and goals, as well as a concrete action plan to achieve them. The plan was given a positive assessment by independent World Bank experts. Mayors for Economic Growth is an EU initiative, established in 2017 to support mayors and municipalities in the Eastern partner countries to facilitate economic growth and create jobs at the local level. --- Follow the author on Twitter: @Mila61979356
