Elections 2020: OSCE to deploy 24 long-term and 350 short-term observers in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2020 / Kabar /. Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Azizbek Madmarov met with head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Election Observation Mission Thomas Boserup, the press service of the country's foreign ministry said. The OSCE/ODIHR mission arrived in Kyrgyzstan to observe the parliamentary elections and plans to deploy 24 long-term and 350 short-term observers. During the conversation, the issues of organizing the work of international observers were discussed. In particular, Boserup informed that, despite the current pandemic, the OSCE decided to send an election observation mission to Kyrgyzstan, which is already the 12th in a row, since the Organization continues to support democratic processes in the Kyrgyz Republic. In turn, Madmarov said that international observers were invited by Kyrgyzstan in order to ensure broad and open observation of the election process, and also expressed gratitude to the OSCE for sending international election observers.
