Iraqi Ambassador in Cairo, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Discuss Ways To Enhance Oil Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA /- The Iraqi ambassador in Cairo, Iraq’s permanent representative to the Arab League Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi discussed with Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in the Arab Republic of Egypt, ways to enhance oil cooperation between Iraq and Egypt, and discussed the opportunities available for their development, especially in the investment aspects in the oil and gas field, in light of the vigorous preparation and coordination to hold the joint Iraqi-Egyptian Supreme Committee during the coming period, to be held in Baghdad between the prime ministers of the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Minister of Oil, Ihsan Abdel Jabbar Ismail, to his counterpart, Eng. Tariq Al-Mulla, wishing the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt continued progress and prosperity.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi emphasized that Iraq has now become an attractive arena for companies and foreign investments in various sectors, after achieving the final victory over ISIS terrorist gangs, its security stability and its political openness to its regional and international surroundings, noting the importance of agreeing the strategy of cooperation between the two brotherly countries and Iraq’s desire that the Egyptian companies specializing in the field of energy and oil to be present in Iraq and strongly to enhance joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries, explaining that coordination is underway with Baghdad to study the draft agreements and memoranda of understanding proposed by the Egyptian side, in order to reach the deadline for the meeting of the Supreme Committee decided in Baghdad.
In this context, Minister Al-Mulla confirmed to Ambassador Al-Dulaimi, the Egyptian government's keenness, headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, to convene the committee as soon as possible, as the joint committee is one of the most important mechanisms for activating cooperation between the two countries in many fields, including oil, expressing his aspiration that the coming period witness a strengthening and deepening of relations between Iraq and Egypt, opening new horizons for them, reviewing the government's efforts on the economic track, especially in the field of energy, stressing in the same context the importance of strategic cooperation between the two brotherly countries, which aims to increase areas of joint cooperation and exchange of experiences in various petroleum industries, oil and natural gas production, infrastructure development and maintenance, in addition to training and qualifying human cadres in the petroleum industry.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi praised the successes achieved by the oil sector and the efforts made to transform Egypt into a regional center for oil and gas trade and investment. / End
