CHAIRMAN OF NAKHCHIVAN AUTONOMOUS REPUBLIC SUPREME MAJLIS MEETS AUSTRIAN DELEGATION
Nakhchivan, 24 April (AzerTAc). Visiting Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Austrian delegation led by the Speaker of the Styrian State Parliament Siegfried Schrittwieser met the chairman of the Supreme Majlis Vasif Talibov.
Talibov said relationship between Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Styrian State is making huge contribution to boosting Azerbaijan-Austria ties, stressing importance of reciprocal visits in this regard.
The chairman of the Supreme Majlis said nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev`s visit to Austria in 2000 played a key role in advancement of cooperation between the two countries.
Talibov said friendly ties between Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Styrian State were established in 2007, when the Azerbaijani delegation visited the state.
He pointed out Nakhchivan is interested in expanding commercial ties with Austria.
“Nakhchivan`s local government will construct a new hydro-electric power station using equipments purchased from Austria.” He added Nakhchivan`s seven major companies have commercial ties with Austria. Talibov expressed assurance trade turnover between Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Styrian State will further increase.
Schrittwieser said his state is keen on developing cooperation with Nakhchivan.
The 30-man Austrian delegation included MPs, government officials, mayors, businessmen of the Styrian State Parliament, and journalists.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismayilov attended the meeting.
