Baku, April 24 (AzerTAc). The Baku State University (BSU) has hosted the Days of Egyptian culture.
Opening the event, BSU rector, MP Abel Maharramov spoke of “friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt”.
“We are bound together by ties of history and culture,” said Maharramov.
He touched upon the bilateral educational cooperation, saying there are a lot of Egyptian students studying in Azerbaijani universities, including BSU.
Egyptian ambassador to Azerbaijan Sabir Abdulgadir Mansur said Egypt attaches particular emphasis to developing overall relations with Azerbaijan.
“Egypt was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence,” he said.
He also recalled reciprocal visits by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak, saying “these visits gave impulse to developing the bilateral relations in all fields”.
Adel Darwish, Head of the Egyptian Cultural Center, stressed the importance of boosting bilateral education and culture relations.
The event featured an exhibition of Egyptian artists and a concert.
