SCO Secretary General sends condolences to Jeenbekov on National Mourning Day

Bishkek, July 30, 2020. /Kabar/. Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Vladimir Norov sent Thursday words of condolence to Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on the occasion of the Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic in memory of citizens who fell victims of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Organization's website, the letter of the Secretary-General states:
"On behalf of the multinational staff of the SCO Secretariat and on my own behalf, I express deep condolences on the Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic in memory of the citizens who fell victims of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sharing the bitterness of the irreparable loss of the brotherly people of Kyrgyzstan, we hope for the full recovery of all those who are fighting this disease.
Let me take the opportunity to note the dedication of doctors, medical workers who remain faithful to their professional duty and, at the risk of health and life, treat those who are ill, preserving their endurance, self-control and vivacity.
I am convinced that coordinated action by the central and local executive authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the active work of civil society, the volunteer movement and the support of the international community, including the SCO Family countries, will make it possible to halt the spread of the epidemic in the country.
I am firmly convinced that, thanks to unity, solidarity and mutual assistance, the people of Kyrgyzstan will overcome this harsh test with dignity and honour.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization stands in solidarity with the people of Kyrgyzstan and is determined to take all necessary measures to strengthen cooperation in the field of health care and to assist in countering the pandemic.
Dear Sooronbai Sharipovich, please accept the words of our unwavering support and wishes for strong health, well-being and peace to you and all Kyrgyzstanis!”
On July 27, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed a Decree "On Declaring July 30, 2020 the Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic".
As a gesture of solidarity and support on that day, the flags of member states and of the Organization itself are lowered in front of the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.
