Iran's Qom Province official talks local production, exports

TEHRAN, Iran, July 23

Qom Province has exported $31 million worth of its products in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020), head of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization in Qom Province Mahmoud Seyjani told Trend.
"Qom province has exported 32,000 tons of goods valued at $31 million," he said.
"The most important destination countries for our export are Iraq, India, Turkey, Afghanistan, the UAE, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and China," he added.
"The main export goods of the province are plastic material, wires, aluminum products, shoes, snacks, oil products and hydrocarbons," he added.
"Iraq is the first destination market for Qom export goods while China ranks second, followed by Afghanistan, and the Emirates, India, Pakistan and Azerbaijan," Seyjani added.
"The statistics show that Qom Province has exported 290,000 tons of goods valued at $250 million in the last Iranian year (started March 21,2019), which were mostly steel products , plastic, copper products and grains," he said.
"It is predicted that Qom Province would export 350,000 tons of goods valued at $250 million to Iran's 15 neighboring countries in the current Iranian year. The province has already exported the mentioned goods worth $31 million due to reopening of borders and resume of trade. We hope the export would reach the expected volume," Seyjani said.
The official also pointed out that the province exported shoes and carpets.
Speaking of production units in the province, Seyjani said there are 2,231 active ones, and some 56,800 individuals work there.
"Some $1.2 billion was invested in these production units," he said.
"There were 252 inactive units, in first three months of the current Iranian year, while 22 unfinished projects were launched thanks to $24-million investments, which created jobs for 500 people," he said.
Seyjani said that last Iranian year the province domestically produced 15 types of goods valued at $67 million, which previously used to be imported.
Seyjani also said that Qom Province is expected to hold the 2-nd exhibition of domestic production opportunities and manufacturing boom in current Iranian year.
"The exhibition has received positive responses in its first year in 2019, and was organized through efforts of public organizations, private sector," he added.
