Vietnam, Cuba step up agricultural cooperation
Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam is ready to cooperate and exchange experiences with Cuba in agriculture, especially in rice production, in order to help Cuba reduce food imports, affirmed Deputy Minister of Agriculture Diep Kinh Tan.
The Vietnamese official made the affirmation at his meeting with Cuban Agriculture
Minister Ulises Rosales del Toro in Havana , Cuba , on April 22.
Rosales del Toro, who is Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers and
Minister of Agriculture, thanked Vietnamese experts for their effective help to
Cuba in rice production. He said Cuba wants to expand cooperation activities
with Vietnam in the future.
Deputy Minister Tan expressed the hope that with a new agricultural policy, Cuba
will successfully develop rice cultivation in the future.
Deputy Minister Tan and his Cuban counterpart Juan Perez Lamas signed a
memorandum of understanding on building a medium-term cooperation programme on rice
production in Cuba
During his visit to Cuba beginning April 16, the Vietnamese deputy minister also
held working sessions with Minister of Construction Fidel Figueroa and co-President
of the Cuba-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Cooperation Committee and Minister of
Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca. The sessions focused on measures to
promote bilateral cooperation, particularly in agricultural production.-Enditem
