MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS OUTGOING IRANIAN AMBASSADOR

Baku, April 22 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Tuesday with outgoing Iranian ambassador Nasir Hamidi Zare.
Asadov thanked the ambassador for his contribution to developing bilateral relationship and wished him successes in his future career.
He said developing multi-faceted relationship with Iran is one of the main directions of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.
According to him, reciprocal visits by the two countries` presidents contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation even more.
The Speaker noted the two countries signed several important intergovernmental documents.
Touching upon interparliamentary ties, Asadov said reciprocal visits by members of friendship groups contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries` legislative bodies.
Nasir Hamidi Zare said Azerbaijan Iran have a long history of bilateral relations.
The sides noted the two countries have great opportunities to cooperate in economy, trade, agriculture, machine-building, chemistry, tourism and other spheres.
They also exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, peace and stability in the region and other issues of mutual concern.
