Kazakhstan's Air Astana delays flights restoration to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun. 26 By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend: Kazakhstan’s Air Astana is delaying restoration of flights to Georgia, the company told Trend. Earlier this month, Kazakhstan announced a decision to resume international flights to a number of countries. The flights are being gradually resumed to Turkey, China, South Korea, Thailand, Georgia and Japan as of Jun. 20, 2020. Air Astana has then announced restoration of flights to Turkey and Georgia since Jun. 20, 2020. The company said that earlier this month the company received permission from Georgian government to resume flights starting Jul. 1, 2020. “However, on June 25, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency sent a telegram to the airlines stating that all international flights were suspended until August 1, 2020, due to the current epidemiological situation,” the company said. Now Air Astana is planning to resume flights to Georgia starting Aug. 1, 2020. Air Astana is the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, based in Almaty. Prior to quarantine restrictions it operated scheduled, domestic and international services on 64 routes from its main hub, Almaty International Airport, and from its secondary hub, Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. --- Follow the author on twitter: @nargiz_sadikh
