Soltaniyeh: Nuclear power plants do not pose any threat

The need for using nuclear energy is on the rise across the world, Iran’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) envoy Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh told to IRNA on Monday.

Soltaniyeh made the remark on the sidelines of the International Conference on Nuclear Power for the 21st Century in Beijing, adding nuclear power plants should not considered as a threat.

“Nowadays, most countries have reached to the point that IAEA has deviated from its advanced nuclear programs.

He also urged the IAEA to get back to its main programs, expressing hope that the ground could be prepared for changing the poisonous political atmosphere prevailing in IAEA in near future.

Iran’s IAEA envoy said politicizing the IAEA-related issues should be avoided.

Soltaniyeh concluded that currently over 436 atomic power plants are active across the world.
