ANNIVERSARIES OF MARAGA AND SHAMAKHY OBSERVATORIES TO BE MARKED
Baku, April 19 (AzerTAc). The international conference to mark 750th anniversary of Maraga observatory and 50th anniversary of Shamakhy observatory will be held in Maraga, Iran on May 23-25.
Since UN General Assembly decided to designate 2009 as the Astronomy Year, astronomic conferences and forums will be held around the world this on this occasion, according to director of Shamakhy Astrophysics observatory Eyyub Guliyev.
The anniversary of the Maraga observatory created by Azerbaijani scientist Nasreddin Tusi will be marked not only in Iran but also in September in Nakhchivan.
