S. Korean rocket to fly over Japanese waters+
TOKYO, April 18 Kyodo - South Korea's first satellite-installed rocket may streak over Japanese territorial waters, sources close to bilateral ties said Saturday.
The two-stage rocket to be launched in late July is likely to fly over waters
off from southwestern Kyushu to the main island of Okinawa Prefecture, in which
case the first stage will go down in the East China Sea off Kyushu and the
second stage in waters off the southeastern Philippines, according to the
sources.
The rocket launch will come after a North Korean rocket flew over northern
Japan earlier this month, prompting Tokyo, which believes the move by Pyongyang
was a ballistic missile test, to be on high alert.
The Japanese government, however, will take a wait-and-see attitude this time
as ''it's clear South Korea aims to promote peaceful use of outer space,''
according to a government source.
