FM: Iran ready to help promote peace, stability in region

Iran?s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Tehran was always
prepared to help promote peace and stability in the region.

Making the remark during a meeting with his Australian counterpart
Stephen Smith on the sidelines of an international conference on
Pakistan here on Friday, he highlighted the important and influential
role Iran played in international conferences held on topics related
to its neighboring countries, especially Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The two officials also discussed different regional and international
issues during the meeting and exchanged views on ways to improve
bilateral relations in the political and economic fields.

Mottaki arrived in Tokyo on Thursday to participate in an
international gathering attended by over 40 world countries on the
issue of Pakistan, which explores ways to enhance economic situation
in Pakistan and establish political stability and tranquility both in
Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He is to leave Tokyo for Tehran this evening.
