Low-income housing under construction in Bac Ninh
Bac Ninh (VNA) - Construction of a 1.5 trillion VND (83.3 million USD) low-cost
housing project kicked off on April 16 in Phuong Lieu Commune in the northern
province of Bac Ninh.
Financed by Kinh Bac Urban Development Joint Stock Co., the 6ha project initially
aims to provide affordable houses for approximately 10,000 low-income earners who
are working in the company's Que Vo Industrial Zone.
Vu Duc Quyet, head of the Bac Ninh Industrial Zone Management Board, highly
applauded the project, saying it proved the company's increasing commitment to
ensure sustainable development. It also showed the company's efforts to operate in
line with Government guidelines that were set to ensure social security during the
economic downturn.
The board would offer the company timely and effective consultation if
administrative procedures faced difficulties during project implementation, he
said.
An initial contract for renting houses out to workers was also inked on April 16
between Kinh Bac and Yamato Industry Vietnam Co., a Japanese firm specialising in
automobile assembly.
The Ministry of Construction has set a target to build about 10,000 affordable
houses for low-income earners between now and 1010.
The 2.5 trillion VND (142.9 million USD) plan is aimed at providing accommodation
for about 60,000 people residing primarily in Hanoi , Dong Nai, Binh Duong and
Ho Chi Minh City .
The plan is part of the ministry's seven-year strategy to build 184,000 low-cost
houses for poor people. Already submitted to the government for approval, the plan
will cost an estimated 49 trillion VND, half of which will come from the State
budget and the rest, from other economic sectors.-Enditem
