LATVIAN FM TOURS SANGACHAL TERMINAL
Baku, 16 April (AzerTAc). Latvian foreign minister Maris Riekstins has today visited the Sangachal Terminal, one of the world’s largest integrated oil and gas processing terminals,
as part of his Azerbaijan trip.
Located 45km south of Baku in the Garadag district, the Sangachal Terminal is a vital link in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas industry.
Riekstins first toured the Caspian Energy Center where he viewed photos depicting the history of the oil industry in Azerbaijan.
The Latvian FM was informed that the terminal covers an area of 730 hectares, and first export of oil from here was achieved in October 1997.
Riekstins was given a bus tour of the terminal to view key facilities at the site, which include crude oil storage tanks, oil and gas processing trains, main power generators and pumps and a central control room.
