‘RUSSIA SUPPORTS A PEACEFUL AND JUST SOLUTION TO NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT’
Baku, April 16 (AzerTAc). Russia supports a peaceful and just solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the country`s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin told a press conference on Thursday.
“Russia will support any decision to be agreed by the parties,” said Dorokhin.
“Along with continuing a mediation mission, Russia is ready to play the role of a guarantor in solving the dispute. We support any decision which will bring peace to the region.”
The Ambassador also touched upon the Azerbaijan-Russia relations, saying the two countries have high-level political and economic ties.
“The fact President Dmitry Medvedev paid one of his first official visits to Baku is a vivid evidence of this,” he said.
“We are also much hopeful of a visit President Ilham Aliyev has today started to Moscow,” added Dorokhin.
On bilateral trade cooperation, the Ambassador said Azerbaijan is Russia`s fifth largest trade partner.
“Trade between our countries have grown more than 2.5-fold since 2005 to reach 2.4 billion US dollars.”
Dorokhin also touched upon the Azerbaijan-Russia humanitarian cooperation. “The opening of Baku branch of the Moscow State University after Lomonosov and inauguration of the Russian Information and Cultural Center here point to high level humanitarian cooperation between our countries,” said Dorokhin.
