One More Covid-19 Case Confirmed in Thailand
BANGKOK, March 2 (TNA) – Thai Public Health Minister has confirmed one more Covid-19 case, the 22-year-old woman, raising the total case in the country to 43.
The new patient is a tourist assistant and came in close contact with the 37th Covid-19 patient, said Sukhum Kanchanapimai, permanent secretary for public health. Meanwhile, one more patient, the 34-year-old woman, who was found infected with the coronavirus after her trip to Japan has fully recovered.
Although, the outbreak in Thailand remains in the second stage, it has expanded monitoring to cover the countries with increasing patient numbers such as England, Norway and Scandinavian countries.
Travellers, returning from high risk countries are advised to self-isolate for 14 days after their arrivals.
Regarding Thai nationals, who are working illegally in South Korea’s Daegu and have asked the Thai authorities for help to return home due to the Covid-19 situation there, Dr Sopon Iamsirithavorn, director of the Bureau of General Communicable Diseases said the assistance will be provided by the foreign ministry and Thai embassy in South Korea.They will undergo screening before departure.
If they are free from the virus, they will be able to return and have to stay home for self-quarantine for 14 days. If they are found to have coronavirus infections, they have to under the treatment and could return home after full recovery. (TNA)
