PM Offers Condolence to Family of First Death Victim of Covid-19
BANGKOK, March 2 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha extended his condolences to the family of Thailand’s first death victim of COVID-19 while asking cooperation from Thai people to follow the Public Health Ministry’s advice.
Naruemon Pinyosinwat, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said the prime minister offered his condolence to the family of the 35-year-old man, who is one of the two critically-ill COVID-19 cases and died Feb 29.
He was confirmed as the first Covid-19 death in Thailand.
The man had been treated for dengue fever at a private hospital before he contracted COVID-19 and transferred to the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in Nonthaburi province.
The patient tested negative to the virus after being treated for almost a month but his lungs deteriorated and he died of multi-organ failure. The case is being investigated to determine the cause of his death.
Gen Prayut also extended his support to the medical team, who had work hard over the past month in treating this patient. He asked people, who fall sick with suspicious symptoms to inform health officials about their travel history if they return from the countries at risks of COVID-19 infections.
Otherwise, they could face punishment after the COVID-19 was listed as the dangerous communicable disease and put into effect on Sunday. (TNA)
