POPULAR AZERI WRITER CHINGIZ ABDULLAYEV TURNS 50

Baku, 15 April (AzerTAc). The 50th anniversary of Chingiz Abdullayev, popular Azerbaijani writer, was marked at the Azerbaijan Union of Writers. Head of the Union of Writers Anar, MP Elmira Akhundova, rector of the Music Academy Farhad Badalbeyli, Ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia have congratulated the writer and presented him gifts and diplomas.
Chingiz Abdullayev was born in 1959 in Baku. He is known mostly for his detective novels, which became extremely popular throughout the former Soviet Union and continue to attract readers not only in the CIS but also throughout the world. He has authored different works, including novels and short stories, which have been published in 27 world countries, including CIS states, the United States, France, Sweden, Turkey, Bulgaria and Israel and translated into 20 languages. His books sold more than 24 million copies. He laid the basis for “global political detective story” by writing his novel “Blue angels” and then gained popularity with another stories, such as “Crossing the hell”, “Not to come back”, “Create your own world” and others.
