Iraq, Russia Discuss Bilateral Relations And Opportunities To Strengthen Them

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraq and the Russian Federation discuss bilateral relations and opportunities for strengthening them.
A statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, Tuesday, that "Undersecretary of the Ministry Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashem Mustafa met Constantine Kasgev, head of the International Relations Committee in the Russian Federal Council. The meeting discussed bilateral relations and opportunities for strengthening them to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples. They also discussed the most important political developments in the region."
The Undersecretary praised the Iraqi-Russian relations, noting that they have a history of understanding, stressing that Baghdad looks at Moscow as an important partner in the anti-terrorist operation.
Regarding the demonstrations in Iraq, Mustafa explained that it represents a democratic health condition practiced by the Iraqi people to evaluate the political process in Iraq, indicating that it contributed to finding changes, and that it also reflects the state of popular and democratic awareness that Iraqis have enjoyed after years of change.
He expressed Iraq’s keenness to adopt a neutral policy, adding that Iraq seeks to be a party to calm all the parties in the region.
For his part, the Russian official affirmed his country's full support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, offering his congratulations on naming the new prime minister.
Kasgev also stressed that Moscow is interested in stabilizing the situation in Baghdad, because of its great impact on the stability of the entire region. "/ End
