VNA, Notimex agree to boost information exchange

Mexico City (VNA) - The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and its Mexican counterpart, the
Notimex News Agency, have agreed to further beef up the bilateral cooperation.

An agreement to this effect was signed between the VNA General Director, Tran Mai
Huong, and the Notimex General Director, Sergio Uzeta Murcio, in Mexico City
on April 13.

Under the terms of the agreement, VNA and Notimex will provide each other with
free-of-charge national and international news in English and Spanish languages,
as well as news photos and videos.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Huong said the two news agencies hold huge
potentials for bilateral cooperation that will not only help boost mutual
understanding between the Vietnamese and Mexican people, but also open up the
doors for Vietnam and Mexico to enter Latin America and Asia , respectively.

VNA and Notimex could also expand cooperative ties to other areas, such as
exchange and training of reporters, exchange of services and distribution of
publications in each other's country, he added.

This view was shared by Uzeta Murcio, who affirmed that the exchange of
information between VNA and Notimex will help Mexicans better understand Vietnam
, especially its dynamic development and rising role in the world.

Uzeta Murcio said Notimex is willing to extend the bilateral cooperation into
other fields for benefits of both sides.

Since its inception in 1997, VNA-Notimex cooperative relations have grown
fruitfully. Notimex has appreciated the news and photos provided by VNA as it has
no permanent correspondents in Vietnam and Southeast Asia .

Apart from Notimex, VNA already signed cooperation agreements with a number of
other partners in Latin America, including Cuba 's Prensa Latina , Argentina 's
TELAM, and Venezuela 's Bolivarian News Agency.

In an interview granted to the Mexico City Television on April 13, VNA General
Director Huong spoke highly of the cooperation between the two news agencies,
believing that these cooperative ties will be expanded for mutual benefits.

During its trip to the American country since April 10, the VNA delegation paid a
courtesy visit to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico , Pham Van Que, and
participated in an exchange programme with the embassy staff and overseas
Vietnamese in Mexico.-Enditem
