Thai People Watch Partial Solar Eclipse

BANGKOK, Dec 26 (TNA) – A partial solar eclipse is visible in Thailand’s skies on Boxing Day as the Thai Astronomical Society sets up telescope fitted with filters for public members to view the celestial event at Bangkok Planetarium. The solar eclipse takes place from 10.18 a.m. to 1.58 p.m. on Thursday. Observation sites have been arranged at main observatories and a network of 410 schools across the country. The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) said Thai people can witness the partial solar eclipse in all regions. The maximum obstruction of the sun or about 80 per cent can be seen in Yala’s Betong district, 56 per cent in Bangkok and 40 per cent in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district. A live stream of the solar eclipse can be viewed on the NARIT ‘s YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/NongEarthNarit. (TNA)
