PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES BP-AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT

Baku, 13 April (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today has received a BP-Azerbaijan company delegation headed by its President Bill Schrader.
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the BP delegation on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the company, describing ‘this historical day as portentous event not only in BP`s life, but also in the history of world oil industry as a whole.’
The Head of State said over passed period of time, BP has become one of the leading companies in the world and proved itself as a ‘successful one’.
President Aliyev said partnership between Azerbaijan and BP, based on mutual advantage, has opened new opportunities for cooperation in the Caspian region. The Azerbaijani leader described this cooperation as a ‘good example of cooperation between a state and a prestigious company of the world.’
The President pointed out after gaining independence, Azerbaijan, having rich natural resources, could direct its riches in favor of the people and made contribution to energy cooperation both in the region and the world.
Ilham Aliyev said by effectively using of oil incomes, the country achieved diversification of its economy and carried out significant infrastructure projects in region.
The Head of State said his country has implemented successful reforms in all fields, noting these reforms have been launched with signing of the “Contract of the Century” in 1994.
The Azerbaijani leader expressed assurance partnership between Azerbaijan and BP will further develop.
Schrader noted Azerbaijan`s oil industry has a great history, saying the country has gained important progress in last 15 years. President of BP-Azerbaijan said his Company is proud of having huge contribution in this progress.
He said BP`s Chief Executive Tony Hayward and Executive Vice President Andrew Inglis described Azerbaijan as “a real model of success”.
Schrader expressed assurance that Azerbaijan-BP cooperation will continue to develop.
