Construction of 250 ml USD ship repair plant begins

Quang Ninh (VNA) - Construction of the 250 million USD Nosco-Vinalines ship repair plant kicked off in Yen Hung district, northern Quang Ninh province on April 11.

Attended the ceremony, among others, was Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, who
has requested the plant's investors pay due attention to environmental protection
while carrying out the project.

The Nosco-Vinalines plant will cover a total land area of 100 ha on the right bank
of the Chanh river that runs through Yen Hung district.

Construction of the plant consists of two phases, with the first phase planned to
cost 150 million USD and complete by 2011, and the second phase to finish two years
later.

Once completed, the plant is capable of repairing ships with capacity ranging from
70,000 DWT to 100,000 DWT and is expected to generate jobs for 700-800 people.

Earlier on the day, Deputy Prime Minister Hai visited the Khe Cham Coal Company,
where he asked the company's leaders to invest more in modern technologies to ensure
