AZERBAIJAN STARTS “PEOPLE’S COMPUTER PROJECT”
Baku, April 11 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan started launching “People’s Computer” project jointly with “Microsoft” and “HP” companies.
Azerbaijan Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, Ministry of Education, Microsoft and HP companies signed Intention Protocol on April 10.
People's Computer Project, aimed to improve socially disadvantaged people's computer knowledge, to extend using of Information-communication technologies (ICT) in other regions. The project will support development of information society of Azerbaijan.
The pilot project will be realized in the first stage 4 months. The first stage considered for teachers. Other social groups such as students, medical employers, government officers can take advantage of theses discounts after this stage.
Azerbaijani minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said about the importance of the project.
Minister of Education Misir Mardanov said that more than 3 000 teachers presented applications for getting computers.
The project will present 5 000 notebooks and computers with license programs of Microsoft. Payment for the computers within the program will be realized within 12.
The Computer Project is aimed at offering computers and notebooks on credit.
