Local corporations build thermo-power plants

Hanoi (VNA) -PetroVietnam will team up with Lilama to undertake EPC projects for
Vung Ang 1 and Nhon Trach 2 thermo-electric power plants.

The contracts to this effect were signed between the two local corporations and
their partners in Hanoi on April 9.

Under the 1.17 billion USD EPC contract, construction of Vung Ang 1 thermo-electric
power plant will kick off in Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province right in April.

With a design capacity of 1,200 MW, the plant is expected to add to the national
grid around 7.2 billion kWh of electricity a year when it becomes fully operational
in 2013.

The EPC project for Nhon Trach 2 power plant, worth 524 million USD, will enable the
750 MW plant to generate around 4.5 billion kWh of electricity a year.

Vung Ang 1 and Nhon Trach 2 power plants are among urgent power projects to be built
during 2006-2010, as part of the 2006-2015 national power development plan.-Enditem
