Prime Minister to attend ASEAN meetings

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will lead the Vietnamese delegation
attending high-level meetings between ASEAN and its partners, to be held in
Pattaya , Thailand from April 10-12.

The meetings will include ASEAN+1, the 12th ASEAN+3, the 4th East Asia Summit and
the third ASEAN-UN Meeting.

Speaking at the regular press briefing in Hanoi on April 9, Foreign Ministry
spokesman Le Dung explained that as per the common goal of joining hands to cope
with global challenges, leaders from ASEAN, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea,
India, Australia, New Zealand, and the UN Secretary General will discuss
orientations and plans to boost cooperation between ASEAN and its partners,
particularly toward solving global challenges such as economic and financial crisis
food security, and natural disaster control.

Documents and declarations covering food security, biological security, and natural
disaster control are expected to be approved at the meetings, Le Dung added.-Enditem
