UKRAINE`s FIRST LADY VISITS AZERBAIJAN HISTORY MUSEUM
Baku, April 9 (AzerTAc). Ukraine`s first lady Katerina Yushchenko, who is accompanying President Viktor Yushchenko in his official visit to Azerbaijan, today viewed the national history museum here.
The Museum`s Director Naila Velikhanly told the Ukrainian first lady that the building constructed in 1895-1897 was the property of Azerbaijani millionaire and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev.
The building became a museum in 1920 and contains more than 300,000 items reflecting all periods of Azerbaijan`s history. By President Ilham Aliyev`s decree the building was restored to its original appearance.
The Ukrainian first lady viewed the exhibits of Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev memorial museum, and signed the guestbook.
Mrs. Yushchenko was presented with keepsakes, including books, an album and CD about the museum.
The Ukrainian first lady in turn presented the “National Art Museum of Ukraine” book to the museum.
