Silk Road institute planned
Tehran, April 8, IRNA
Iran plans to set up a special and independent institute to restore
and further introduce Silk Road, a historical route linking Asian
countries.
Announcing this deputy head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts
and Tourism Organization, Hamid Baqaei said that Iran will manage the
affairs pertaining to the road through the entity.
The objective of establishing the institute is to conduct studies,
undertake restoration works and introduce its capacities to other
countries.
It will also release brochures on the road and guide tourists, he noted.
Stating Iran's significant share of the road, Baqaei added that there
many villages, cities and natural sceneries along the road, each of
which have numerous potentials for introducing Iran's culture and
civilization to foreign tourists.
Silk Road is an extensive interconnected network of trade routes
across the Asian continent connecting East, South, and Western Asia
with the Mediterranean region, including North Africa and Europe,
which was used by Asian merchants around 6000 BC.
