MP criticizes double-standard policy towards Iran nuclear program
Tehran, April 8, IRNA
Iran's representative in the First Committee of Inter-Parliamentary
Union criticized the double-standard policy of world powers towards
the country's peaceful nuclear program.
According to a report by Majlis' International and Protocol
Department, Seyyed Javad Zamani, who is currently in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia, to take part at the 120th meeting of the union, delivered a
lecture themed 'Role of Parliaments in Preventing Proliferation of
Nuclear Arms and Implementing Nuclear Test Ban Treaty' at the event.
While the world is seeking sustainable peace, the existence of
arsenals of weapons of mass-destruction poses a serious threat to
international peace and security, he said.
Zamani added that not only the threat of weapons possessed by some
powerful countries has been ignored but also they are trying to impose
restrictions for other countries in attaining peaceful nuclear
technology.
Zamani, MP of Kanganvar, Sahneh and Harsin, Kermanshah province, added
that international efforts to provide a safe environment should comply
with disarming norms.
Unlike the huge propaganda against Iran, it is fully committed to NPT
and it will continue its efforts to help build a Middle East free of
weapons of mass destruction, he said.
Referring to the supervisory role of parliaments in the implementation
of the countries' constitutions, he noted that they can help promote
nuclear disarmament.
