ICAO Gives Support for Thailand

BANGKOK, July 27 (TNA) - The International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) gives its support for Thailand to become a regional training center for aviation inspector. President of the ICAO Council Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House on Friday, during his visit to attend the 3rd Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS) held in Phuket on Monday to Wednesday. Prayut thanked ICAO for providing valuable recommendations for Thailand to improve its aviation industry development. Dr Aliu praised Thailand for its efforts to improve aviation infrastructure, step up compliance to aviation regulations and tackle problems related to aviation industry. The prime minister noted the lack of aviation inspector and requested for ICAO collaboration to establish a regional training center in Thailand in order to address the problem. The 3rd GACS offered a platform for aviation professionals to exchange their views and discuss challenges and opportunities. This year, the ICAO in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and the Regional Office in Bangkok organized the symposium under the theme “ICAO: Bridging the SARPs Compliance Gap with Quality and Efficiency”.
